    The Munga mountain bike race will begin in or around the town of Bloemfontein in South Africa and will end in the Cape Winelands. The route will be predominantly off road. The route will be a GPS route so riders will not have to think about navigation. The route is at least 1000kms, and possibly a bit more.

    The XXIII Olympic Winter Games will be held for 17 days from 9 to 25 February 2018 in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, the Republic of Korea. PyeongChang was selected as the host city of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games after receiving a majority vote at the 123rd IOC Session held on 6 July 2011 after three consecutive bids. The Olympic Winter Games will be held in Korea for the first time in 30 years after the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988. PyeongChang will be the stage for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and most snow sports. Alpine speed events will take place in Jeongseon, and all ice sports will be competed in the coastal city of Gangneung.

    After three years of dreaming, negotiating and preparing, the first Middle East Peace Tour (MEPT) will take place from March 9th until March 15th 2018. The MEPT is a UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) sanctioned bicycle race/event in the Middle East organized with the support of different countries and authorities and open to riders of all levels: those who aim to make the podium and others who wish to cross the finish line in the best possible time.

    The Indian Pacific Wheel Race is a solo, single-stage, unsupported, 5,000km road cycling race ocean-to-ocean across Australia. The course is 100% sealed. The race starts on 18 March 2018 at 6:00am from Fremantle, Western Australia and finishes at the Sydney Opera House whenever you get there. The clock does not stop. There is no prize money. Nothing is at stake except honour.


  • 2.6.2018    Trans Am Bike Race    Astoria - Yorktown USA

    Inquiry is open for the 2018 Trans Am Bike Race.  For those unfamiliar, the race is gearing up for it’s 5th iteration of sending off self supported road racers on a 4300 mile journey across the US on a brisk 10 state adventure.  Featured in the film Inspired to Ride, the Trans Am is part of a quickly growing subset of cyclists.  Born out a desire to race on roads with techniques and ethics based in the world of ultra endurance bikepacking events such as the Tour Divide, the Trans Am stands as the middle ground between events like Race Across America and Tour Divide.  One being a supported road race across the country and the other being a self supported off road race down the spine of the country.  The race bears a little similarity to the European Transcontinental mostly by the similar style of conventional road bikes ridden in the event and it’s cross continent nature..

    In Anlehnung an ähnliche Touren wie die legendäre Tour-Divide von Banff CAN bis Antelope-Wells USA (4400 km) oder das Kiwi-Brevet in Neuseeland fahren die Teilnehmer/innen nach den Bikepacking-Richtlinien.

    Die Strecke führt von Romanshorn am Bodensee ganz im Osten der Schweiz über genau 1000 km und etwas über 30.000 Höhenmeter nach Montreux am Genfersee.

    Den aktuellen Streckenrekord hält übrigens der Schweizer Christian Jakob mit mit einer Zeit von 5 Tagen und 5 Stunden.

    Self supportetd bicycle race from the North Cape, Norway to Tarifa, Spain the most southern point on the European mainland. This will be the longest self supported bike race in Europe so far.

    Cycling from the most northern to the most southern point on the European mainland crossing different countries, cultures and sceneries. Start your journey at 24 hours daylight up in the north, end your journey at the Mediterranean Sea, with its warm sunny weather with view to the next continent, Africa.

    The rules for the NortCape-Tarifa bike race are simple and largely self-policed. The rules attempt to embody the spirit of self-support and fairness for all riders.

    That’s the North Cape – Tarifa bike race, a single-stage, unsupported, for 7100km of cycling race across Europe.

    Among the highlights and new additions to the 2018 route, the pack will tackle the cobbles of Roubaix over a distance of 21.7km, climb up to the Plateau des Glières on the Grand-Bornand stage, return to Alpe d’Huez and will set off into the Pyrenees on a very short 65 km mountain stage. The final face-off among the favourites will take place during the time trial, on the particularly steep roads of the Basque Country.

Tokyo presented a very strong technical bid from the outset – and it needed to in competition with two such high-calibre bids from Istanbul and Madrid. All three cities were capable of staging excellent Games in 2020, but in the end it was Tokyo’s bid that resonated the most with the IOC membership, inviting us to “discover tomorrow” by delivering a well-organised and safe Games that will reinforce the Olympic values while demonstrating the benefits of sport to a new generation.
